David Perron has signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Dallas Stars. The 38-year-old forward is set to enter his 20th NHL season.
Last season, Perron totaled 28 points across 65 games with Ottawa and Detroit. He scored three goals in 16 games for the Red Wings after a March 5 trade and became an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Stars general manager Jim Nill said Perron's leadership and ability to deliver in key moments would help the team. Perron has 812 points in 1,239 NHL regular-season games and won the Stanley Cup with St. Louis in 2019.
Dallas faces a three-month absence for forward Matt Duchene as he recovers from core muscle surgery. The Stars visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.
