Walter Clayton Jr. is set to join the Dallas Mavericks on a two-way contract, Shams Charania reported Wednesday. The move follows his clearance of waivers after Memphis released him two days earlier.
The guard spent his rookie season with Utah and Memphis. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.2 assists across 45 appearances for the Jazz, then 9.7 points and 5.7 assists in 24 games for the Grizzlies, including six starts.
At Florida, Clayton helped the Gators win the 2025 national championship and earned West Region Most Outstanding Player honors in the NCAA Tournament. He scored 34 points against Auburn in the Final Four. In four preseason games with Memphis, he did not reach double figures in scoring.
