Johan Caballero, 18, was arrested after a woman suffered multiple stab wounds and two dogs were found with apparent gunshot wounds in north Harris County. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez described the case as an intimate partner violence investigation.
Deputies responding to a disturbance Tuesday night in the 300 block of Highlands Cross Drive found blood leading into an apartment. They forced their way in and found the dogs and a butcher knife. Around the same time, a woman with multiple stab wounds arrived at a nearby hospital.
Investigators linked the apartment and hospital cases and identified the woman's former boyfriend as the alleged attacker. Caballero arrived at the hospital while deputies were there and was detained. He was booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, family violence, violating a protective order and animal cruelty.
