A two-alarm fire at a UniClean America warehouse in northwest Houston prompted a hazmat response late Friday night. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were called around 8 p.m. to the 12100 block of Antoine Drive and found the warehouse engulfed in flames. Wind helped spread the fire, and an estimated four or five neighboring businesses suffered at least smoke damage. Multiple fire departments assisted, with crews extending a line to reach more water.
Because chemicals were stored at the cleaning supply facility, hazmat crews monitored the air and worked to contain runoff from firefighting water. Crews placed booms, and water tests showed a neutral pH level. Harris County Public Health was called to help manage the runoff.
Hazmat crews were still identifying the products stored at the warehouse. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s origin and cause; nothing so far suggests arson.
