Three people were hospitalized after two separate stabbings near the Taste of Soul festival in South Los Angeles. Los Angeles police are investigating the incidents near Crenshaw Boulevard.
Officers responded around 2:45 p.m. Saturday to a reported group altercation near Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards. Paramedics took two men with stab wounds to a hospital; investigators said neither cooperated with detectives. Authorities described a suspect who fled as a man between 20 and 30 years old. No arrest was immediately reported.
At about 5:30 p.m., police declared a citywide tactical alert as they dealt with a crowd of more than 100 youths near the intersection. Shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to another stabbing in the 4200 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. A juvenile girl was taken to a hospital with a stab wound; her condition was unknown. Detectives have not confirmed whether the stabbings were linked or whether the crowd was connected to either incident.
