Chicago police have charged Chevazz Campbell, 37, in the fatal stabbing of CTA janitor Julian Mobley at the Damen Green Line station on the Near West Side. The charges include first-degree murder, felony murder and armed robbery.
Police said Mobley, 41, was stabbed in the neck during an altercation in the station’s mezzanine shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday. He was found unresponsive nearby and later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital of Cook County. The attacker fled the station.
Campbell, who lives in Kenwood, was taken into custody Friday night at the Englewood police station. He also faces weapon-related charges and a charge of entering CTA property without paying. He was due for a detention hearing Sunday.
