Miami climbed to No. 1 in the college football Top 25 after five of the previous top eight teams lost on Saturday. The undefeated Hurricanes received 40 first-place votes and lead the rankings for the first time since 2002.
BYU rose to No. 2 after beating Notre Dame, which slipped two places to No. 4. Georgia fell from first to fifth after a last-second home loss to unranked Auburn.
Texas Tech moved up two spots to No. 8 following a lopsided win over Arizona State. The Big 12 and Big Ten each have three teams in the top 10; the SEC has two, down from four a week earlier.
