Members of the NYC Pirates pulled a 19-year-old from the East River after he jumped from the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday, then handed him to an NYPD Harbor Unit boat.
Group president James Reichelt said the jet skiers had spotted a police boat approaching a man on the bridge shortly before he jumped. Reichelt rode toward the spot where the teen landed and found him about a foot below the surface, still conscious.
Another rider helped steady the injured teenager on Reichelt’s jet ski as they brought him to the police boat. He could move and make sounds. Police took him to a hospital in time to save his life.
