A 72-year-old man shot an off-duty ICE agent outside his Fresno, California, home after the agent allegedly attacked him and his daughter, police said.
Fresno police identified the agent as David Gonzalez, 32, of Texas. Investigators said the daughter found Gonzalez asleep on the front lawn early Friday and asked her father to tell him to leave. Police allege Gonzalez attacked the father when awakened and knocked the daughter down when she intervened. The father fired one shot, striking Gonzalez in the midsection.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire near East Dudley and North Broadway Street found Gonzalez wounded and in handcuffs. Police said the daughter’s boyfriend, an off-duty police officer, had restrained him. Gonzalez was taken to a hospital for treatment and remained in custody while the investigation continued.
