Sir Geoff Hurst has praised Jude Bellingham’s response to Thomas Tuchel’s criticism of England after their World Cup quarter-final win over Norway.
Bellingham scored twice in the 2-1 victory, putting England through to a semi-final against Argentina. Hurst said the midfielder’s dismissive reaction to Tuchel’s post-match comments made him laugh. He also welcomed the manager’s view that England had not played at their best.
Speaking at an event in London, Hurst described Argentina as a tough opponent. He said he expected England and Tuchel to have studied their matches, praised the squad’s team spirit and expressed confidence that England could win the tournament.
