Sir Geoff Hurst has praised Jude Bellingham’s response to Thomas Tuchel’s criticism of England after their World Cup quarter-final win over Norway.
Bellingham scored both goals in the 2-1 victory, putting England through to a semi-final against Argentina. He responded to Tuchel’s post-match assessment that the team had not been at its best with a dismissive remark. Hurst found the reaction amusing and called it fantastic.
Speaking at an event in London, the 1966 World Cup winner said England would be ready for Argentina, though he regarded them as a tough opponent. Hurst also praised the current squad’s team spirit and said he believed England could win the tournament.
