Russian drone attacks on Ukraine’s central Kirovohrad region killed three people and injured six as a proposed pause in strikes on energy facilities appeared to unravel.
More than 360 Russian drones targeted the region. Governor Andriy Raikovych said critical infrastructure, transport and logistics facilities, and homes were among the targets. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia had launched more than 850 Shahed drones at Ukraine.
Russia accused Ukraine of attacking an oil refinery in its Ryazan region. Regional officials said the refinery was targeted by 69 drones and four Flamingo cruise missiles; a Russian ministry said debris from a drone hit by air defences sparked a fire. Zelenskyy said on Wednesday that Ukraine would resume refinery strikes after briefly suspending them to show readiness for peace talks.
Donald Trump had declared an energy ceasefire, though neither Russia nor Ukraine said it had agreed to one. He has urged Zelenskyy to stop attacking Russian refineries, claiming those strikes have driven up global diesel prices.
