Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones does not expect further coaching changes this season, but he remains open to adding players before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
Speaking Wednesday at the NFL’s annual fall meeting, Jones described the addition of longtime defensive assistant Mike Pettine earlier this month as a move shaped by Pettine’s existing ties to the staff. Dallas ranks 30th among 32 teams on defense under coordinator Christian Parker.
The Cowboys are 2-4 after consecutive losses in which they scored 29 points combined. Jones said he sees the offensive problems as tactical rather than a matter of effort, following a conversation with second-year coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Jones expressed frustration with the record but said he would consider a move that helps Dallas this year. He does not expect to sell players unless an unusually compelling offer comes in. The New York Giants lead the NFC East at 3-2-1, while Philadelphia is also 2-4 and Washington is 1-4-1.
