Long Beach is preparing for possible coastal flooding as a strong storm approaches Southern California. Residents along the Peninsula, Naples Island, Belmont Shore and Alamitos Bay face the risk of tidal overflow.
The city has opened sandbag stations and activated emergency shelters. Swift Water Rescue teams have also been sent to patrol riverbeds ahead of the storm, while flood warnings cover parts of the region.
In Malibu, severe beach erosion has closed Westward Beach Road, blocking access near Point Dume. Heavy surf and rising tides continue to wear away the coast, and crews are watching the area for further damage during high tides.
