A federal judge rebuked Trump administration lawyers Monday over plans to renovate East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. Judge Ana C. Reyes questioned whether President Trump intended to press ahead despite her temporary order blocking the project. The hearing ended without a decision.
Administration lawyers had previously described the renovation as conceptual, but Trump posted detailed plans Sunday. Reyes pressed them to explain the apparent conflict. Trump has said he wants to replace the site's three courses with one championship-style course.
The National Park Service confirmed in a court filing that it had marked more than 500 trees for removal. A D.C. preservation group and two individuals challenged the Interior Department and the park service in February, arguing that the renovation would raise tee-time prices at a course intended to be accessible to everyone.
