U.S. envoys were meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Norway on Tuesday for talks on the war with Russia, amid a dispute over Washington’s support for Kyiv.
Special envoy Steve Witkoff was set to meet Zelenskyy in Oslo, with Jared Kushner joining by video, the Norwegian government said. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb were also expected to take part.
Kyiv accused the United States of withdrawing support it needs for its defense against Russia. Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejected the accusation, calling it scandalous. The talks come as President Donald Trump’s negotiators continue seeking a diplomatic settlement without a breakthrough so far.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he hoped Trump’s envoys could meet in Russia soon, but gave no date.
