Ukraine received no US warning before Russian missiles struck power plants in Kyiv late on Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yuri Ihnat said on Monday that the first barrage hit at around 11pm without advance warning. Ukraine was warned before a later strike at 3am, he added.
The reported gap comes amid tensions between Kyiv and Washington over US policy towards Russia. On Friday, President Donald Trump waived a package of sanctions on Russia, saying a pause was in the national interest. Ukraine has also complained that US deliveries of PAC-3 air defence missiles have slowed. Zelenskyy criticised delays to air defence supplies and sanctions relief for Russia, while Trump said on Sunday that he did not want to push Russia away from peace talks.
