Nine flights bound for Gatwick declared emergencies before landing as a runway was blocked. A British Airways aircraft reportedly obstructed the runway, leaving several arriving flights held and prompting fuel emergencies.
Flight BA2673 had landed earlier and was attended by airport rescue and firefighting crews. Several other flights due to arrive at Gatwick were delayed or diverted, with some landing at London Luton.
