Nine flights heading to Gatwick declared emergencies before landing after a runway was blocked.
A British Airways aircraft reportedly blocked the runway, leaving several arriving flights waiting to land. The disruption led to fuel emergencies, while some flights were diverted to other London-area airports, including Luton.
British Airways flight BA2673 had landed earlier and was attended by airport rescue and firefighting crews.
