National Park Service crews are set to begin another round of tree cutting Saturday at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. The agency says as many as 529 trees could eventually be removed.
A federal court filing identifies 169 trees for the first phase. A second phase involving 90 trees would follow, the Park Service says, but the larger total remains a possibility rather than a final count.
The filing is part of ongoing litigation over President Trump’s proposal to turn the historic public golf course into a championship-level course. The administration says it has no final redesign plan.
